Board members and staff spent a segment of the April 14 workshop reviewing calendar items and logistics. Gail reviewed items she had entered into BoardDocs, including the student advisory panel, board site visits, a planning session and graduations. "I just wanna go down the list of what I put in BoardDoc," Gail said.
The board confirmed a planning session set for Saturday, May 10 at the U.L. Building, beginning at 9 a.m.; members said the meeting will be primarily discussion and is expected to be brief (a few hours), with members asked to bring a snack. Board members also discussed timing for a larger summer planning session: multiple members suggested scheduling it in early to mid-August (between Aug. 1 and Aug. 15, with several indicating the week of Aug. 11 might work), before the start of staff development and the 2025–26 school year (first student day discussed as Aug. 25).
Other calendar items confirmed included district site visits to three elementary schools (board members signaled availability for the proposed dates) and graduation dates spread across May 12–14; at least some board members confirmed they plan to attend graduation ceremonies. The student advisory committee schedule was discussed—one email referenced a panel scheduled 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a specific hold from 10:35 to 11:20 for a segment—and the board asked staff to coordinate availability.
Board members discussed meeting formats and timing (options included a weekday or a Saturday), and staff said they will circulate date options and an agenda for the May 10 planning meeting. The workshop concluded with a move into executive session; board members announced the executive session lasted approximately 60 minutes and that no decisions were made during it.
No formal motions or votes were taken during this logistics discussion; the session focused on scheduling and administrative coordination.
