The Grand Prairie Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a specific use permit for a contractor shop with outside storage at 1212 and 1214 South Carrier Parkway on Monday.
Planning staff said the site is an existing commercial property; the applicant plans interior and exterior renovations, new windows, stone cladding and metal panels on the facade, added landscaping, and the closure of one nonconforming driveway. The requested outside storage area is shown to account for roughly 30% of the site and would accommodate surplus materials and Connex containers. The Development Review Committee recommended approval.
Curtis Walkley of Weir and Associates, representing the property owner, spoke in support and answered commissioners’ questions about the project. Commissioner John Federico moved to close the public discussion and approve SUP‑25‑02‑007; Commissioner Michelle Madden seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The applicant will proceed with the improvements as presented and must comply with any standard permit and inspection requirements during building permit review.
