Wagoner council keeps Eastern Oklahoma Development District representatives, swears in newly elected officials

The City of Wagoner council voted April 14 to leave the city’s representatives to the Eastern Oklahoma Development District unchanged and completed the swearing-in of newly elected officials at a special-called meeting that began at 6:01 p.m.

Council members said the move preserves continuity for the city on regional grant matters. A councilor noted that “Scott said that he thinks they had an issue with their, their paper trail over there, so just asked us to redo it,” and added that the city’s representation had “been me and Anthony.”

The council took a single formal vote on Item 2, a motion to “leave it just like it is.” The motion was made and seconded and passed on a roll-call vote. Councilors Higginbotham, Wagner, Butler, North, Wilson, Sampson, Wright and Thomas each recorded “yes.” The meeting then moved to adjournment.

The Eastern Oklahoma Development District (EODD) was described in the discussion as the regional body that handles matters including an asphalt grant; staff and council members said EODD meets about once a month in Muskogee.
