Linn County commissioners voted April 14 to accept the resignation of Kent Terrace as planning and zoning administrator, to post the vacancy and to approve an internal personnel transfer for GIS staffing.
The commission accepted Terrace's letter of resignation and directed staff to advertise and fill the now-open planning and zoning administrator position. Commissioners said they expect a recommendation on planning and zoning committee appointments in a subsequent meeting.
Separately, Jason Parker, interim GIS mapping administrator, requested authorization to hire a candidate. Parker stated on the record that he would like to transfer Jessica Brown from the appraiser's office to GIS effective May 5. A commissioner moved and seconded that transfer; the board approved the transfer at the stated rate of $20.12 per hour and then closed the GIS job opening.
To ensure continuity of planning and zoning operations while the position is vacant, commissioners authorized Jesse Walton, interim public works director, to sign building and sanitation permits that come through planning and zoning.
Ending Staff will post the planning and zoning vacancy, process the GIS transfer effective May 5 and report back to commissioners about applicants and any recommended appointments.
