Linn County commissioners on April 14 approved a series of routine and personnel items and authorized up to $30,000 for parts to repair a county track loader.
The board voted to approve the minutes as written and claims in the amount of $170,604.33. Commissioners also approved ad valorem abatements and refunds totaling $666.56 and approved the previously discussed dumping-assistance forms that had been approved at an earlier meeting but not yet signed.
The board accepted the resignation of Kent Terrace as planning and zoning administrator and voted to post that position. The commission approved the transfer of Jessica Brown from the appraiser’s office to the GIS mapping department, effective May 5, 2025, and closed the GIS job opening following that hire. Commissioners also voted to allow Jesse Walton, acting public works director, to sign building and sanitation permits that come through planning and zoning.
During discussion of landfill equipment the board considered repair costs and authorized expenditure of parts up to $30,000 to repair the county's 953 track loader; commissioners recorded a 2-1 vote on that measure.
The board repeatedly recessed into executive session under KSA 75-4319 for matters including non-elected personnel and legal discussions; in each instance the chair announced on the record when the commission returned and stated that no action was taken following executive session.
