Other transfer-station discussion: Staff and commissioners discussed operational details and sequencing for the project: excavating and removing an old fire tank beginning May 15, constructing a Z wall, relocating temporary operations, road improvements to the site and the need for equipment and process changes to speed loading and reduce on-site piles. A contractor (Granite) was named as the firm with the $135,000 scope on the upper pad.
Household hazardous waste and public communications: Staff reported social-media confusion about "free dump days" and instructed staff to clarify there are no free-dump dates. Staff also discussed current funding for a household hazardous waste collection (speaker characterized the budget as "about $50" for the year) and suggested public education on paint disposal and year-round drop-off procedures to reduce hazardous-day costs. That budget figure was presented by staff as approximate.
