Mayor David Kreutzfeld read and signed a proclamation declaring April 2025 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Oskaloosa. During the public comments portion of the meeting Barry Martin, CEO of the Mahaska County YMCA, said the YMCA and its partners received the Community Improvement Award from the chamber and development groups; Martin said the award reflected a partnership built by the community.
Brent Bowman announced a new community arts event, the Uplifting Puppet Parade, to premiere during Art on the Square on the afternoon of June 14. Bowman said visiting artists will run workshops with children and community groups in the weeks leading up to the parade and that the event will conclude with a community parade and music on the square.
