Under the new practice, the superintendent will continue to vet Level 2 volunteers (classroom volunteers) at the school level, but all athletic volunteer coaches and assistant coaches will be presented to the full board for annual approval before each season begins.
Staff said the change will not grandfather existing volunteers indefinitely; the board will review and approve coaching volunteers each year so the district has an up-to-date list before activities begin. The motion was moved and recorded as carried during the meeting.
