Pryor Main Street previews app soft launch, façade assistance and Capitol advocacy

The Main Street representative said the project team has been working with local partners, including Terry Lamar and Mary Doyle, to identify sites and pathways. “We are doing a soft launch kinda test drive for that, next Monday, the 20 first,” the representative said, and invited anyone interested in participating to provide feedback.
The public launch is scheduled for April 26 and will coincide with Passport to Pryor, described by the speaker as a downtown boutique crawl intended to spur business and sales tax revenue. The Main Street representative said activities that day will include “sipping shops” and a passport users’ giveaway filled by participating local businesses.
On façade improvements, Pryor Main Street said it has requested design-assistance visits from Oklahoma Main Street for several downtown buildings, including the Grama Community Building, and that design recommendations will include structural and historic-preservation guidance. The representative said the design assistance is a free resource available to designated Main Street programs and that Pryor will pursue memoranda of understanding with property owners to implement improvements; a revised draft MOU has been circulated to the EDK president and is expected for presentation at the May meeting.
The speaker also invited members to participate in Main Street Day at the Oklahoma Capitol on May 5, saying the delegation will seek meetings with legislators to discuss local infrastructure improvements and funding opportunities.
Questions from board members were limited to scheduling and logistics; no formal action was taken on the items during the meeting.
The update covered outreach and programming meant to increase downtown visitation and support small businesses ahead of an app launch and a scheduled lobbying effort at the state capitol.
