Commission approves $662.17 PILT payment to Conway School District

The Carroll County Commission voted April 14 to allocate a $662.17 payment in lieu of taxes (PILT) to the Conway School District. County staff said the funds were received from the U.S. Department of Agriculture on account of National Forest lands.
The commission reviewed a draft letter to the New Hampshire Department of Education indicating the county’s preference to apply the payment to the Conway School District. A motion to authorize the letter and to direct the funds to the Conway School District was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
A commissioner asked how much National Forest acreage generated the payment; staff said they did not have that information during the meeting.
