Senator Mark McConkie elected vice chair of capital project overview committee

The Capital Budget and Capital Project Overview Committee elected Senator Mark McConkie to serve as vice chair in a surprise vote taken while McConkie was not yet present.

Committee members moved and seconded the nomination and called for the vote in McConkie’s absence. The chair announced, "All in favor of Mark McConkie ... as vice chair," and after the vote said, "Motion carries. We'll surprise him when he walks in." When McConkie arrived the committee repeated the matter and asked whether he accepted; Senator Mark McConkie said, "Thank you. It's a pleasure to sit to your right and, for the honor. Thank you." The committee then welcomed him as its new vice chair.

The committee did not record any formal objections beyond the roll call of “aye”s, and no additional duties or changes to the committee's schedule were associated with the election at this meeting.
