Mendocino Transit Authority staff updated the Mendocino Council of Governments on April 7 about electric-bus procurement and supporting charging and solar canopy infrastructure.
MTA reported it has an RFP out for design of charging infrastructure and a solar canopy; no proposals had been received at the time of the meeting and staff said they may reissue the RFP. The solar-canopy design will assess whether battery storage for microgrid-like backup is feasible. MTA also reported a pre-build meeting with bus manufacturer Gillig is scheduled this month for two 35-foot all-electric buses purchased with SP-125 funds; the buses are slated for manufacture with delivery in December.
Ending: MTA will continue the procurement and design process and will return updates to the board as the charging/solar canopy design and bus procurement progress.
