Pflugerville library board removes laptop rental fee, forms five-year plan committee and approves minutes

The Pflugerville Public Library Board voted unanimously to remove a $25 fee that had appeared in budget materials for use of library laptops, approved the minutes from the prior meeting and appointed a three-member committee to draft the library’s five‑year plan.

Board members approved the motion to remove the laptop fee after discussion of budget materials and policy language. A board member moved to remove the fee and Jillian seconded; members voted in favor. The board chair later confirmed who moved and who seconded the motion. The board also voted to approve the previous month’s minutes by motion and second; the minutes approval was recorded as carrying unanimously.

On the five‑year plan, a motion to appoint a planning committee naming the mover, Sarah and Oscar as members passed after a second. The committee will work with library staff remotely to draft the plan and return recommendations to the full board; the director said final approval of the plan will come from the entire board and the plan is submitted annually to city council.

Board members discussed timing for the committee meetings; staff said they will circulate a Doodle poll to schedule the first meeting. No deadlines for the subcommittee meetings were set beyond the board’s stated goal for completing the plan by year‑end for submission to city council.

The votes taken at the meeting were procedural and policy housekeeping: approval of minutes, establishment of the five‑year plan committee and removal of the laptop fee. The board did not adopt other new policies during this session.
