Comal County Commissioners approved a transfer to cover the remaining installations needed to complete a high-water warning system along the river, a multi-site project that has been under way for roughly a year.
A county project manager told the court the contractor has installed all high-water warning systems except for one location on River Road between the second and third crossings at FM 311 and a new site at Nichols Landing, which depends on obtaining access from the Texas Department of Transportation. “Once that's obtained, we'll be able to finish the project and finalize the entire high water warning system along the river,” the presenter said and recommended approval. The presenter stated the remaining cost is about $60,000; the original project cost was described as $1.9 million.
Commissioners approved the line-item transfer to capital equipment to complete installations. The project manager said the team had obtained access for the River Road site and was awaiting TxDOT approval at FM 311 to complete the last site.
