Constable Flores wins approval to buy 10 Taser 7 devices for Precinct 4

Comal County Commissioners approved funding to purchase 10 Taser 7 devices and related training and software for Constable Flores’ office, a package the constable said will improve reliability and officer safety.
Constable Flores told the court the department’s older X26P devices have nonrechargeable batteries and have shown wear that raises reliability concerns. “It features an upgraded electronic system with smart diagnostics that continuously monitor battery health and overall device readiness,” Flores said, describing the Taser 7’s improvements. The requested bundle includes 10 devices, holsters, 12 rechargeable batteries, a docking/charging station, training vouchers, ten user licenses for required software, cleaning kits and a five-year warranty and support bundle.
Commissioners asked about the total price and software subscription term. Flores said the vendor quote for the full bundle was $48,096 and that the software subscription was being prepaid for five years; ownership of the taser hardware would remain with the county and any renewal would be separate after the prepaid period.
Commissioner Crownover moved to approve the line-item transfer and purchase; Commissioner Webb seconded. The court voted in favor and the motion carried.
