Assembly approves two bills on consent calendar, adopts resolutions honoring Crime Victims Week, Parkinson’s Awareness and Egyptian Heritage Day

The New York State Assembly during a floor session in Albany approved two bills on the consent calendar and adopted three resolutions asking the governor to issue related proclamations.

Assemblymember Warner moved a resolution memorializing Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim April 2025 as Crime Victims Rights Week, noting that “crime can leave a lasting impact, physical, financial, emotional, on people of all ages and abilities of all economic, social, racial backgrounds.” Assemblymember Walsh added support, saying it is “very important” that victims be treated with dignity and have the ability to seek justice. Assemblymember Tannoussis introduced a resolution asking the governor to proclaim April 2025 as Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Month, saying, “Parkinson’s disease, unfortunately, is a disease with no cure.” The Assembly adopted the resolution by voice vote.

Assemblymember Rajkumar introduced a resolution to memorialize the governor to proclaim July 23, 2025, as Egyptian Heritage Day in New York, calling the day a tribute to both ancient Egyptian contributions and the state’s Egyptian American community. That resolution was also adopted by voice vote.

On the consent calendar the Assembly took up two bills.
