The Santa Rosa County School Board heard staff recommendations to update grant-management policies (7.7 and 7.25) so district procedures conform with federal uniform guidance (2 CFR 200) and OMB administrative requirements.
Staff said the district has followed the 2 CFR 200 guidance in practice since 2018 and that the proposed updates mainly formalize those procedures in policy. The draft 7.7 adds a new section referencing uniform guidance; 7.25 was expanded to include a distinct grant-administration section and a financial-management section to clarify responsible practices.
District grants staff, including Travis and Dana Fleming (federal-grants staff), assisted in drafting the revisions. Presenters told the board these updates reflect work by departmental staff and counsel to ensure policy language matches operational practices and grantor expectations.
No vote was taken at the workshop. Staff said the grant-policy edits will follow the same public-notice and adoption timeline as the other draft policies and will be submitted for formal adoption after public notice and any board-directed revisions.
