Agency updates: Oroville, Robinson's Riffle, Thermalito and levee inspections; FEMA remapping continues

Oroville levee and inspections Staff said they are preparing for an Army Corps levee safety inspection for the City of Oroville levy repair, scheduled as a two-day visit May 7'8. Agency and consultant staff will attend; agency staff emphasized the Corps is reviewing a range of materials including an HDR analysis completed in 2015 and more recent hydraulics work.
Robinson's Riffle (Orville) project Staff reported completion of planning and advancement into a $2.1 million CDFW-funded design phase for the Robinson's Riffle project; the design is at roughly 30%.
Thermalito Afterbay boat ramp and campground The Thermalito Afterbay boat ramp and campground project is at about 100% design. Staff said they are coordinating design reviews with the Department of Water Resources, securing permits and working through the U.S. Army Corps 408 review and approval process.
Feather River side-channel and Sutter RCD work Staff said the Sutter County Resource Conservation District is gathering data for the Feather River side-channel project. The agency is sharing geotechnical, hydraulics and environmental information from its levee work to support that effort. The agency also expects a joint meeting with regional partners in the coming months.
FEMA remapping Staff reported FEMA and its consultants are working to remap Sutter County, including the Yuba City basin, moving from paper maps to digital models. The agency said FEMA's remapping process will likely take two to three years before completion.
Other notes and schedule Staff described work on project closeout items, grant rounds (RFMP4 to RFMP5) and coordination with the California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) on sediment removal grants. The board was told the agency had extended a current grant for sediment removal to fall 2025.

Staff said they were seeking state-directed funding and local directed funding where appropriate and would keep the board informed, including presenting a preliminary budget and continuing to coordinate with DWR and federal agencies.
