Design Review Board continues 2058 Crestview Drive after neighbors raise views, privacy and parking concerns

The Laguna Beach Design Review Board on April 10 continued its review of a proposed new single-family home at 2058 Crestview Drive to the board’s first July meeting (July 10) after extended public comment and deliberation where neighbors raised concerns about coastal views, privacy, parking and an existing retaining wall that encroaches into the public right of way.

Staff presented the project as a four-level single-family residence with an attached two-car garage and an attached ADU; staff also noted a height modification request because part of the structure would reach 31.2 feet—2.2 feet above the permitted height. The applicant is also seeking variances, including for not providing a required on-street parking space; staff said public-works review found no feasible location within 200 feet that would satisfy the on-street parking requirement, and the applicant proposed payment of an in-lieu fee instead.
