The Jefferson City School Board approved Amendment No. 3 to the district budget after a staff presentation outlining revenue and expenditure adjustments.
A staff presenter said the amendment adds revenue from delinquent taxes and state-assessed railroad and utility taxes, increased interest on taxes from Cole County, fines and forfeiture revenue and funding for a state preschool grant. The presenter said the changes increase Fund 1 by $475,000 and Fund 3 (debt service) by $35,000.
On expenditures the presenter said the preschool grant will now pay partial salaries for teachers and paraprofessionals in three new early-childhood classrooms rather than being used for furniture. The presenter also noted an additional school-resource officer was added to the budget this year, therapy-dog purchases were higher because of delays in prior years, and safety-supply and equipment accounts were adjusted.
A motion to approve Amendment No. 3 was made and seconded; the board approved the amendment by voice vote.
