Colonial SD recognizes PW bowler Melanie D27Alessio for record-setting seasons and state qualification

At the start of its April 10, 2025 meeting, the Colonial School District recognized PW bowler Melanie D'Alessio for her accomplishments in the district's bowling program. Superintendent Dr. Christian introduced coach Jeff Blizzard, who presented the recognition and a certificate.
Blizzard described D'Alessio as "without question the most accomplished bowler in the 21 year history of our program," and outlined her achievements: setting multiple single-game and three-game series school records, an overall freshman-year average of 195, repeated first-team all-league honors, and finishing third at the Eastern Regional individual tournament this season. He said she qualified for the Pennsylvania State championships and for the national high school tournament to be held in June, and that she finished 11th among 24 bowlers at the state meet when she competed.
Blizzard also noted D'Alessio's academic standing and extracurricular participation: she carries a 3.5-plus grade-point average, is enrolled in an exercise science program at the tech school, participates in regional youth leagues and Saturday tournaments, and has bowled three perfect games in competition (not for PW). The coach presented a certificate to D'Alessio and praised her leadership and sportsmanship.
The board did not take formal action on the recognition; it was presented as part of the superintendent's report and student recognition portion of the meeting.
