Committee members cited recent outreach to faith communities in promoting the district's referendum and provided examples of churches that donate school supplies and food assistance to students.
A committee member asked whether naming example organizations could be exclusive; the chair clarified that the list was illustrative and the policy's use of "etc." and "community organizations" was intended to include other partners. The committee moved to recommend the title change and policy adoption to the full board; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Supporters said the policy aims to formalize cooperative work to support students and families; the policy packet and meeting comments included brief examples of churches donating supplies and food for students.
