Board honors longtime driver, transportation staff update operations and student attendance notes

Staff recounted Mr. Rowe's nearly 46 years of service, his pattern of always covering his route and the personal commitment he made to students and family; transportation staff provided mileage estimates and recounted the driver’s long tenure. The board and staff offered condolences and appreciation for his service.
Transportation staff said open enrollment closes in April and urged parents to complete transfers during the enrollment window, noting the district will not grant hardship or special exemptions for missed open-enrollment periods. Staff also said they would more carefully verify powers of attorney used to enroll students because of an increase in fraudulent information encountered during intake.
The board praised transportation and school resource officers for recent security checks across campuses; staff said the county SRO continues to verify that exterior doors are secured across schools and that recent sweeps found no propped doors.
