Jordanelle community cleanup set for May 4; Hideout to supply drop-off and support

Organizers and volunteers from the Jordanelle community described plans for the annual Jordanelle Community Cleanup Day on Sunday, May 4. Nikki Kai, a local resident and real-estate agent who coordinates the event, said volunteers will gather at Hideout Town Hall starting at 10 a.m., where she will hand out donated trash bags and waivers. The town will provide a trailer at town hall and a dump-truck or town containers at the public-works facility so volunteers can drop off collected debris.
Ms. Kai said the cleanup will include multiple pickup locations to accommodate neighborhoods on the north and south ends of the service area; volunteers will be asked to sign a waiver and register online so organizers can plan food and coordinate pickup for larger items. A catered lunch will be served to volunteers at noon at the Retreat clubhouse.
Councilmembers and public-works staff confirmed the town will provide logistical support — containers and trailer pickup — and that a town employee or volunteer driver will monitor the trailer. The cleanup is an annual community event that organizers said has grown over a decade and provides a visible reduction in roadside litter after snowmelt.
No formal council action was required. Staff said they will promote the event through the town newsletter, the town website and the town’s app.
