Duchesne County commissioners voted to award the 12,000 West Road Improvements contract to Staker Parson Companies, doing business as Burdick Materials, and approved a series of routine county items including a small business grant and payroll vouchers.
The commission accepted the apparent low bid for the 12,000 West project from Staker Parson Companies (Burdick Materials) for $999,975.00. County staff reported two bids were received and that the engineer’s estimate was roughly $1.2 million. A motion to accept the bid was made and seconded; commissioners voted by voice and the motion carried. The commission’s staff recommendation was that Burdick Materials be awarded the contract at the $999,975.00 price.
The commission also approved a matching-grant application for GT Enterprises of Duchesne in an initial amount of $6,000 to cover electrical work related to a newly purchased fabrication press. Staff said the business had bought the brake press and needed funds to address additional electrical work discovered after purchase. The commission approved $6,000 now and budgeted up to $8,400 total should further documentation be submitted and approved.
Other routine actions on the consent calendar included ratifying several new business licenses, accepting payroll and vouchers for the pay period ending March 29, 2025, and approving minor property-rights actions. Commissioners also authorized the county to grant a right-of-way to the local special service district for a parcel discussed earlier in the meeting.
The commission recessed into a closed session earlier in the meeting, citing the purchase, exchange, sale or lease of real property as the reason; the motion to close was made and seconded and the commissioners voted to proceed.
