Stafford Fire Department pins four new firefighters, plans additional hiring

The Stafford Fire Department recognized four new firefighters who have completed a four-week field training orientation and will begin shift assignments, officials said.
Fire Chief Larry DeCamillo led a pinning recognition on the program, praising the new personnel and asking residents to be patient with crews during long shifts. DeCamillo said two of the new hires will go to B shift, one to A shift and one to C shift, and that the department expects to hold another round of hiring about two months from now following promotional processes.
"We're very very happy to have these 4, new personnel," DeCamillo said. "2 are going to B shift, one's going to A shift, one's going to C shift. We're gonna do another round of hiring 2 months from now probably."
One of the people named on the program, Colby Dickerson, was identified as joining the department and assigned to A shift; DeCamillo said Dickerson has previous experience as a volunteer firefighter. The event included brief remarks and light refreshments after the recognition.
The program did not include a detailed breakdown of hiring dates, salaries or background checks. DeCamillo said personnel in the fire marshal's office were also being recognized in new capacities but did not provide additional names or titles during the segment.
