Bay County’s special magistrate accepted code enforcement’s recommendation Thursday that the owner of 19916 Highway 231 (Fountain area) remove overgrowth and either apply for demolition permits or submit structural repair plans within 30 days. Code enforcement documented two separate structures at the address and classified the site as having unfit, unsafe structures and excessive overgrowth.
Investigators reported prior inspections, mailed notices of violation and returned certified notices indicating that the owner had not engaged successfully with county staff. The county recommended the owner either apply for demolition permits for the unfit structures and remove debris, or submit a building permit application including a full structural report and a complete set of repair drawings prepared by a Florida-licensed design professional. All permits and inspections must be completed before repairs will be considered finished. The magistrate set a compliance hearing for May 15, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., and warned that failure to comply would result in a $1,000 fine that would become a lien on real and personal property in Bay County.
Ending Property owner(s) must file permit applications or arrange demolition and clean-up within 30 days to avoid fines and lien assessments; the magistrate will review compliance at the May 15 hearing.
