Flower Mound Historical Commission approves minutes corrections, artifact loan recommendation and new meeting day

At its meeting, the Flower Mound Historical Commission approved three formal items: corrected minutes for March 13, 2025; a recommendation to the Town Council to accept a loan of historical material (a mattress and box spring); and a change to the commission’s regular monthly meeting day.

The commission voted to approve the consent-item minutes for March 13, 2025, with corrections noted to identify who made and seconded the first consent motion. The commission agreed to review video recordings to fill in the missing names. The roll call on that motion recorded ayes from Commissioner Bowman, Commissioner Gabbitt, Commissioner Clark, Chair Jackie Norell, Vice Chair Kathy Blair, Commissioner Klarich, Commissioner Hood and Commissioner Williams.

The commission also voted to recommend to Town Council that the collection accept a loaned French mattress and box spring donated by Chair Norell for display at the Gibson Grant Log House. The motion was approved on a roll call in which the same commissioners recorded “aye.” Commissioners noted the item would proceed to Town Council for final acceptance.

Separately, the commission moved to change its regular meeting day from the third Thursday to the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m., beginning in September (the commission historically does not meet in August). Commissioner Cecilia Hood initiated the motion and the measure passed on a unanimous roll call. Town staff confirmed the proposed Tuesday did not conflict with regular board and commission meeting schedules.

No formal items were tabled or defeated during the meeting. The commission recorded no dissenting votes on the actions summarized above.
