An appeal seeking review of an administrative fine tied to a sign installation was withdrawn shortly before the Placerville City Council meeting on April 8 after the appellant’s attorney agreed in writing to remove the sign by May 10 and requested the fine be waived.
Staff recommended the council forgo a public hearing because of the withdrawal. A member of the public who had come to the meeting to speak said much of what they planned to say was now moot. Two members of the public urged enforcement in other sign matters and said city enforcement preserves fair competition and community appearance.
Staff clarified that the fine in question exceeded $500 and that an earlier council resolution (Resolution 9240, adopted in the fall) remains in effect. Staff said if the sign is not removed as agreed, the city retains its enforcement options, including abatement and court remedies.
No council action was required because the appeal was withdrawn and staff accepted the removal timeline and fine‑waiver request.
