City Manager Merriman said the city acquired the parcel through tax foreclosure and determined via resolution that the property was not needed for municipal purposes. Staff advertised the lot through the city’s home preservation program but received no offers. A neighboring property owner subsequently offered to purchase the lot, and staff recommended introduction of the ordinance to initiate the sale process. Merriman described the lot as narrow and likely not buildable due to roadway configuration.
Councilwoman Sarris introduced the ordinance for first reading; no final sale vote occurred at the April 10 meeting. Merriman said the sale would remove the maintenance obligation from the city and place the vacant lot back into private ownership.
