Forest Park reports Project Splash closing, multiple Main Street developments and new workforce and arts initiatives

City staff reported Project Splash is closed, 751/771 Main Street sold, other Main Street projects moving forward, a public block party and the launch of a new workforce program and public art initiative.
City economic development staff updated the URA on several projects and initiatives including the completion of Project Splash, recent property sales and upcoming community and workforce events.
Staff announced that Project Splash is complete, paperwork is signed and funds transferred. Economic development staff said they will share public details when nondisclosure restrictions are lifted.
The URA was told that 751/771 Main Street (two small buildings across Main Street) has been sold to Nuvo of Jonesborough; the buyer plans two restaurant concepts at street level with roughly six “loft‑style” apartments above. Staff also said they expect to close on two additional parcels across the street soon and that another mixed‑use development is in the works nearby.
A 29‑unit townhome project on Main Street has submitted a land disturbance permit; staff said they expect construction to begin soon. Separately, the development authority’s rehabilitated 850 Main Street building is nearing completion with a remodeled ballroom, multiple small office suites and a planned café; staff said about 75% of the renovation work is complete.
City staff announced a community block party at The Park at Fort Gillum (11 a.m.–1 p.m. Saturday) and said canvassing and outreach have produced strong community interest. They also said they are launching the city’s first public art program with an art overlay district for the Main Street Arts & Entertainment District and plan to form a public art committee.
Staff announced a new workforce development program called Elevate, a partnership with Atlanta Center for Self Sufficiency, Clayton State, Clayton County Public Schools, Atlanta Technical College and Calvary Refuge Center. The program will have a public launch and ribbon‑cutting event Friday at 10 a.m. at 819 Forest Parkway, Suite D.
Staff asked for URA members to attend community events and to provide referrals for small tenants for renovated commercial space at 850 Main Street. No formal board action was required for these updates.
