Commissioner Blair moved to adopt the ALJ recommendations and Commissioner Long seconded. The motion passed.
Minutes and consent
The commission approved the minutes of a February 12, 2025 discharge hearing and the February 13, 2025 regular Public Safety Commission meeting after a motion from Commissioner Blair and a second from Commissioner Hoard. The consent agenda items listed under section 11 were also approved on a motion from Commissioner Blair and a second from Commissioner Long.
Organizational title change
The commission approved a recommendation to change the agency title of "regional director" to "regional chief" to better align the rank with agency structure and local partners. The change was described as a title update with no salary changes; Commissioner Blair moved and Commissioner Hord (recorded in transcript as Hord/Hoard) seconded the motion, which passed.
Rule posting and other motions
Commissioners also voted to post proposed 37 TAC 28.211–28.215 concerning the Texas crime laboratory records portal to the Texas Register (motion moved by Commissioner Blair, seconded by Commissioner Ford).
