The United Nations interim force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported today that it observed and detected rounds fired from south of the Blue Line toward Lebanon and warned that such actions risk jeopardizing the cessation of hostilities achieved in recent weeks.
A UN spokesperson said the mission reiterated its call to all parties to avoid unilateral actions that could undermine stability. UNIFIL confirmed its peacekeepers remain in position and continue to monitor and report on developments.
The briefing also said the UN Mission's Maritime Task Force recently resumed training activities with the Lebanese Armed Forces after a suspension dating to Sept. 26, 2024, when hostilities at that time led to a pause in exercises. The spokesperson did not provide additional details on the scope or schedule of resumed training.
The UN called on all sides to refrain from measures that could destabilize the area and emphasized support for full implementation of Resolution 1701.
