Mayor Dane M. White read a proclamation declaring April 22, 2025, as Earth Day in Escondido and invited residents to participate in Earth Month activities.
Geo, representing the city's recycling and waste management team, thanked the mayor and council and outlined upcoming events: a free landscape class (Saturday, April 12), the Creek to Bay cleanup (Saturday, April 26), a free compost giveaway the week of May 5, and an e-waste and shredding event on Saturday, June 28. Geo also said the city hosted an annual poster contest for kindergarten through eighth-grade students; the winning posters are on display at the Escondido Arts Partnership on Grand Avenue and a sustainability resources table is on display at City Hall and the Escondido Public Library. Staff directed residents to the city's website under environmental programs for more information.
Council and staff thanked the recycling team and encouraged residents to participate in the events.
