Sheridan County School District #3 trustees approved several personnel actions and compensation items at their April 14 meeting, including offering continuing teacher contracts, hiring multiple administrators and teachers, approving a salary schedule and steps and lanes for staff, and approving bonuses aimed at bus‑driver recruitment and retention.
On motions made and seconded during the meeting, the board approved offering continuing teacher contracts for the 2025–26 school year and approved a hire for an assistant principal position for 2025–26. The board also approved the administration’s recommendation to hire Jocelyn Chimpercamino as director of curriculum and instruction and approved hiring Amanda Schmidt as the grades 7–12 vocational agricultural teacher and FFA advisor for 2025–26.
Trustees accepted two letters of resignation: Jean Camino, a CDL bus driver, and Gail Cole, a special‑education paraprofessional. The board thanked both employees for their years of service during public remarks.
On compensation, the board approved the 2025–26 salary schedule for certified and classified staff and voted to permit movement of staff by one step (‘‘steps and lanes’’) where earned; the board said the change reflects automatic step movement by years of service and lane movement for earned credits.
Trustees also approved a recruitment/retention incentive for bus drivers. The board initially moved a $1,000 sign‑on bonus for new drivers and a $1,000 retention bonus for current drivers; after discussion the board amended the motion and approved a modified retention arrangement that included a $500 component for certain current drivers (discussion recorded in the meeting transcript). The board thanked bus drivers for filling extra runs and described the bonus as recognition for drivers who pick up additional work.
All motions on these personnel and compensation items passed on voice votes with trustees responding “aye.” The meeting transcript records the motions and that the items passed; no roll‑call tallies with named votes were recorded in the excerpted minutes.
