Fulton County board approves Union City intergovernmental agreement and 68 polling-place changes

The Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections on April 10 approved multiple election-administration items, including an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with the city of Union City to add an advanced voting location and a slate of 68 polling-place changes tied to school renovations and precinct consolidation.
Director Williams told the board that Union City requested that a community center be added as an advanced voting location for the June election and possibly July; the city will cover costs for that location. The board voted first to approve the IGA and then to approve the specific advanced voting location; both motions passed by unanimous voice vote.
The department also presented a countywide review of polling locations. Williams said the department had coordinated with GIS, notified municipalities and impacted board of commissioners members, and reviewed conflicts caused by summer renovations, particularly at Fulton County Schools. The department asked the board to approve 68 polling-location changes. Members asked for clarification that most of the changes were election-day precinct changes rather than early-voting site changes and were told that many changes were boundary consolidations where separate precinct ballots with very low voter counts were merged with neighboring precincts to avoid printing separate ballots for precincts with few or no voters.
Board members approved the polling-place changes by unanimous voice vote. The board also approved routine items including the minutes from the March 13, 2025 meeting and received the March operations report and legislative updates. A canvassing-policy discussion was introduced for continued review and possible action at a future meeting. The department said preparations for upcoming elections, including ballot building and logic-and-accuracy testing, are underway and that temporary staff have been onboarded to support election work.
The board requested that the department compile and provide a report to members about threats or harassing communications made to poll workers or department staff, noting that some matters are under investigation by county police and may be subject to investigatory restrictions before release.
