Public commenters press Fulton County board on voter-roll removals and alleged registration irregularities

During the public comment period at the Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections meeting on April 10, two speakers urged the board to take stronger action on alleged registration irregularities and described perceived problems with voter rolls.
Miss Gaudio told the board she was concerned about national voter-roll figures and alleged that federal reports show discrepancies between registered-voter totals and population counts. She also referenced a March 25 executive order and asserted various large figures regarding noncitizen registrations; those assertions were presented by Gaudio as claims and were not confirmed during the meeting.
Earl Ferguson said he has filed challenges previously that were denied and said he had obtained a question-and-answer document from the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division that, he said, supports a procedure (cited in his remarks as paragraph c) permitting removal of ineligible voters. Ferguson said he has submitted a notice to the Georgia Secretary of State seeking clarification and asked the Fulton County board to join him in requesting clarification.
Board members did not take action during the public comment period on the matters raised. Director Williams and board members acknowledged receipt of the comments and noted that legal and procedural questions about removal of voters and challenge procedures may require review by the Secretary of State or other state offices before any county action.
