Committee leadership said it would not take the measures in the order listed on the agenda and moved each item to a floor assignment following routine motions to amend and do pass.
Assembly members recorded motions to amend and do pass on Assembly Bill 52 (revising health-insurance claims provisions linked to the Nevada Commission on Minority Affairs), Assembly Bill 116 (food delivery service platform providers), Assembly Bill 241 (housing provisions), Assembly Bill 319 (health-care provider revisions), Assembly Bill 396 (housing), Assembly Bill 437 (fair access to insurance requirements), and Assembly Bill 500 (licensure and regulation of payment banks). Where recorded, motions were made by Vice Chair Houdegui and seconded by various committee members; the committee chair assigned each bill’s floor statement to the listed member after the motion carried.
A few recorded roll-call or named dissenters were noted during the session. For Assembly Bill 437, Chair Marzola announced nays from Assembly Members Kasama, Urich, Cole and Hardy but the majority vote carried the motion. For Assembly Bill 396 a “nay” was recorded and during a subsequent voice/raise count the clerk announced several members who opposed before the motion carried. The committee did not take testimony during the work session and only invited witnesses for clarification when needed.
The committee chair reminded members that bill pages contain proposed amendments and that floor statements would be assigned for each measure that advanced. Members were also reminded that committee information is available on NELIS and the Legislature’s YouTube channel.
Ending: Committee staff indicated that the work session concluded and the chair assigned floor statements for the advancing bills. The committee then moved to scheduled hearings on other measures.
