Departing trustee urges absenteeism policy and investment in archives

She said, "if someone has other things taking precedent, that's not really an excused absence, so to speak."
On archives, Natalie said donated funds currently held in a CD should be used to "put a lot of it towards the archives. New furniture, making it much more accessible to handicap people being able to get in there and navigate around, which they cannot do now because of the configuration and the size of the furniture and whatnot in there." She urged trustees to follow the strategic plan and prioritize a concrete archives plan.
Trustees acknowledged the remarks; the chair said the board would take the suggestions under advisement and that policy items would be discussed in future meetings. Natalie said she had been working with the director on archives planning but noted progress has been difficult with staff shortages.
No formal vote was taken on absenteeism or use of CD funds; both were offered as recommendations for future action and possible agenda items.
