Board accepts multiple flooring and polished concrete bids for district buildings

The Independence School District board approved multiple contracts for flooring and polished concrete in district buildings.
Administration presented the bid tabulation and recommended contractors. For epoxy flooring (used in bathrooms and other areas), Uniflor was the winning bidder at $304,652; Uniflor also won the polished concrete bid at $302,900. The district selected a simulated terrazzo product (referred to in the meeting as Cimarazo or simulated terrazzo) for certain hallways; the administration said the product cleans more easily and does not require waxing. Uniflor’s bid for the simulated terrazzo work was $132,895 and the vendor’s epoxy flooring bid was listed separately.
For carpet and luxury vinyl tile (LVT), Regence Flooring (DB, a subsidiary referenced by administration) won at $199,330. Administrators noted that Bingham will receive a large share of the work, with carpet in music/choir spaces and polished concrete in classroom and office areas after grinding down existing concrete.
Board members asked about personnel who reviewed the contracts (administration and architects) and whether the district intended to move away from tile, with administrators confirming they are shifting to epoxy, simulated terrazzo, or polished concrete for durability and maintenance reasons. The motions to accept the bids passed by voice vote.
