The Independence School District board voted to approve the 2025–26 salary guides, which the administration said reflect an overall 4.43% increase across salary guides and include additional retention incentives for benefit-eligible staff. The board approved the guides after an amendment removed the substitute teacher salary schedule for separate review and budget impact analysis.
Administration explained that some salary guides received larger increases: paraeducators, recovery room interventionists (RRIs) and certain specialized paraeducators received higher percentage increases and additional stipends. The presentation noted ECSE and RISE paraeducators would receive extra hourly increases and that the district’s pay for long‑term substitutes is among the highest in the area.
Board discussion focused on whether to approve all guides together. Director motioned to remove the substitute schedule for further study; after discussion and a vote on the amendment, the board voted to table just the substitute schedule and then approved the remainder of the salary guides.
No individual roll-call vote tally for the approval was recorded in the meeting transcript; the board adopted the salary guides by voice vote with the substitute schedule separated for later consideration.
