The U.N. and partners said they were scaling up efforts to reach people affected by earthquakes in Myanmar nearly two weeks earlier.
A U.N. disaster coordination team visited Sagaing region to assess damage and deliver assistance. Over two days, 13 trucks of humanitarian supplies — including tents, household kits, hygiene and dignity kits, and child learning materials — were delivered to affected areas in Sagaing. Three of the trucks moved on to remote villages where distribution was expected to take place the next day, the U.N. spokesperson said.
The U.N. and partners said assessments were ongoing and that teams were working to expand access to affected locations.
No detailed damage totals or casualty figures were provided in the briefing.
