Bountiful council unanimously certifies municipal election results

Shauna Andress, a staff member, reviewed materials provided by the Davis County Clerk/Auditor’s office, saying the packet included pre- and post-election audits, a canvas certification report, the state-required ballot reconciliation report and the Statement of Votes Cast (SOVC). "We had 2 extra weeks to campaign," Andress said, and she pointed out the SOVC showed Bountiful’s voter turnout was 43.87%, "about 14% higher than the county overall." She also summarized provisional and mail ballots that were not counted, saying 157 ballots were not counted and 93 of those were "not timely."
Andress read the names the council declared elected: "Mister Murray, mister Higginson, and miss Bradshaw," noting the declaration was based on the number of votes each received. After the presentation, a motion to approve the municipal general election results "as presented with its results" was made and seconded and the council voted in favor. The council chair announced the motion passed unanimously. Council members were asked to sign the certification form after the vote.
The meeting record contains no detailed roll-call vote by individual council member; the transcript records the outcome as unanimous approval. The council then made and approved a motion to adjourn.
