Representatives for North Benton told the Benton County Board of Supervisors that an ambulance remount opportunity had emerged earlier than expected and asked for approval to use available EMS funds to pay half the cost now and finance the remainder over the next year at no interest.
Haley (staff member) and a North Benton representative briefed the board about the vehicle. County staff said the vendor would accept an initial payment when the unit is picked up in November and allow one year to pay the remaining balance at 0% interest. The North Benton representative said the unit would be a 2026 chassis remounted with a used box; the arrangement would let the county obtain a newer chassis while extending the life of the current box.
“How many miles are on it? Roughly 150,000,” the board asked. The representative said trade‑in value was low (approximately $7,500) and that the vendor, in Sterling, Illinois, could hold the bill for the second half until after July of next year.
Separately, the board approved the county’s monthly EMS claims after staff clarified a vendor-payment issue. Staff explained the earlier check had been written to Atkins to reimburse them, but the county will void that payment and pay the vendor Raycom directly for the equipment invoice so Atkins is not paid twice. The county read a summary of claims: ambulance and first-responder training and medical-supply invoices from multiple local entities and a large payment connected to Atkins for a first-responder vehicle. Staff reported a total of approximately $36,001.16 for the claims run.
Board members moved and seconded a motion to approve the EMS claims; the motion passed by voice vote.
