Twinsburg board recognizes students of the month, highlights safety measures and career programs

During routine reports at its Oct. 14 meeting, the Twinsburg City School District Board of Education recognized students of the month from multiple grade levels, received brief updates on safety measures used at recent events, and heard several school reports on career readiness and upcoming activities.
Student recognition and photos: Staff presented student‑of‑the‑month honorees from primary through middle grades. Ms. Johnson invited each student to the front of the auditorium while teachers offered short comments describing classroom performance, participation, and character. The board and superintendent thanked teachers and families for their support.
Safety at events: Administration reported that metal detection equipment purchased through a school safety grant was used at the recent homecoming football game. The presenter said the equipment "was successfully used at the football game for the first time on Friday," and thanked Twinsburg police and fire for supporting the event. The superintendent and board members said they planned to continue using and evaluating the equipment at future events.
Programs, assessments and calendar items: District staff reminded the board and audience that October is National Bullying Prevention Month and cited upcoming mental health awareness and college‑prep events. The high school recently hosted a college fair with about 75 colleges in attendance and held PSAT/PreACT assessments for grades 9–11. Reports from the district's business advisory committee and high school staff noted career‑readiness initiatives, including a new cybersecurity class, a Career Connections program with 81 students, resume clinics for juniors and seniors, and a March 18 career exploration fair. Several administrators encouraged community attendance at concerts, parent‑teacher conferences and fall events.
Candidate forum: Board members reminded residents that a school board candidate forum would be held the next day at the high school auditorium, hosted by the PTA and League of Women Voters; doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the forum begins at 7 p.m.
Ending: The board recessed without executive session after routine business. Members reiterated appreciation for students, staff and partners who supported recent events and urged the public to attend upcoming activities.
