North Canton council adopts ordinances, hears budget readings; auction contract approved under emergency suspension

North Canton City Council on the night following a major emergency response approved several measures on first readings and adopted one ordinance under suspension of the usual three-reading rule.
Council record of votes and actions at the meeting included the following items.
- Resolution 54-2025: "Resolution declaring city council support the Ohio Commission to the United States Semiquincentennial." Council voted to adopt the first reading of Resolution 54-2025. - Ordinance 57-2025: "An ordinance amending various provisions of chapter 155, personnel regulations of the codified ordinances of the city of North Canton to modify various personnel rules and regulations and the titles and compensation levels of certain personnel effective 01/01/2026." Council moved to adopt the first three readings (a procedural action indicating immediate adoption) and the motion carried by voice vote.
- Ordinance 58-2025: "Ordinance authorizing appropriations for current expenses and other expenditures, temporary advances, and 1 time permanent transfers of monies made to various funds for the period beginning 01/01/2026 and ending 12/31/2026." Council adopted the first reading by voice vote.
- Ordinance 59-2025: "The ordinance amending chapter 140, Department of Development Services of the codified ordinances of the City Of North Canton, in order to clarify the title of director of permits and development services." Council adopted the first reading by voice vote.
