The Los Alamos County Board of Public Utilities voted unanimously on multiple business items during a work session.
The board first suspended its procedural rules to allow formal action during the work session. The motion to suspend the rules passed 4–0.
The board then voted 4–0 to consent to Modification 24 of the County’s Electric Coordination Agreement (ECA) with the Department of Energy. The modification extends the existing agreement’s term by six months while the county and the laboratory pursue a new, consolidated ECA. Board staff said the extension preserves scheduling and shared‑operations arrangements while the newer long‑term agreement is finalized.
The board also approved an amendment to an existing services agreement with ChargePoint, Inc., for electric vehicle charging equipment and operation and maintenance services. The motion approved an amended agreement listed in meeting materials as AGR22‑931A‑A1 in a total amount not to exceed $295,000.77 plus gross receipts tax (amount as stated in the meeting packet). The board voted 4–0 and will forward the amendment to County Council for final approval; staff said the county will manage revenue and expenses from the chargers and also budget for equipment replacement over time.
Finally, the board approved a revised letter of support to U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján regarding a water production project (PM‑3 replacement). Board members said the updated letter used clearer phrasing but contained no substantive changes from the staff report; the motion passed 4–0 and the letter will be transmitted as directed.
Roll call votes for the formal motions recorded Members Heffner, Nochley, Stromberg and Chair Gibson as voting in favor. No votes in opposition, abstentions or recusals were recorded in the meeting transcript.
