Petra (community development staff, interim) and other county staff asked the LC Citizen Advisory Committee to submit an itemized budget request and said staff would review and add reasonable inflation assumptions when preparing the county's preliminary estimates.
Petra told the committee that an itemized list is sufficient for staff to assess and that county staff will add a modest inflation factor (she said she would likely add 5–10% to items) to avoid depreciation of buying power if funds are not used immediately. "If it's not itemized, I'm not really able to assess where it's appropriate to do that and where it's not," Petra said.
Committee members discussed possible line items including a laptop and microphone for meeting recording (one cost estimate mentioned during discussion was roughly $400 for a microphone and a low‑cost laptop; another figure for the committee's equipment and outreach was raised as $2,500 as a more comfortable budget for purchase and storage of materials).
County staff asked for an itemized list by the end of the calendar year so staff can include the committee's requests in their internal budgeting process. Petra offered to adjust figures for inflation and to return costed items in a future meeting report.
