Board discusses facility-use insurance requirements; boiler and locker-room work underway

Facilities committee representative Mr. Grama told the board the committee reviewed facility-use requests and clarified that, going forward, requests require an official sponsor and proof of insurance. He said the district's insurance carrier will not cover events unless they are under umbrella organizations such as district PTOs; events without an approved sponsor and insurance are not being approved for liability reasons.
Grama said the district has approved three events for PTO organizations that serve as umbrella sponsors. He also reported that high-school boiler replacement work is under way and that lockers for a stadium/locker-room replacement project shipped March 22 with installation to follow.
The facilities update was informational. A public commenter later asked about past facility use for an NJEA event and asked the board to review how past permissions were granted; board staff responded that facility approvals follow an administrative request process routed to the facilities director and then to the board for final approval.
