City Service Commission approves reinstatement and three personnel extensions

The Milwaukee Board of City Service Commissioners approved four personnel items on April 8, including the reinstatement of an employee to a Department of Public Works management position and three temporary or probationary extensions in public works and health department roles.
The commission voted unanimously to approve a reinstatement request filed as file 241853, a communication from Laquisha Schroeder seeking reinstatement to the Department of Public Works Administrative Services position (finance and administration manager, formerly finance and planning manager). President Frank Bach called the vote; Commissioners Miller, Smith and Cleary recorded “yes” votes and the motion passed.
The board next approved a second extension request, file 241895, from the Department of Public Works Infrastructure Services Division to extend a temporary appointment for Catherine White, custodial worker 3, for six months through Oct. 11, 2025. The commission record shows the city engineer provided a supporting letter and hiring documentation before the vote. The motion passed on a unanimous roll call.
The commission also approved two probationary-period extension requests from the Milwaukee Health Department. File 241897 extended Diana Lopez’s probationary period as a housing compliance officer 1 for six months while she completes a required Wisconsin Uniform Dwelling Code exam. A Health Department representative confirmed the employee was aware of the extension request before the commission voted in favor.
Separately, the commission approved file 241898, extending the probationary period for Brian Burns, compliance analyst, for three months retroactive to March 31, 2025. Commissioners again voted unanimously to approve the request.
The commission’s minutes record that supporting letters from department directors and standard personnel paperwork were on file for each item before votes were taken. No alternate motions or recorded dissent were entered on these items.
